Amelia Earhart - Wonderful Woman No. 2

Amelia Earhart - 1897-1937
American Aviator and Author

Air travel is something I feel many of us take for granted these days. It really is one of the most amazing things you will ever do; climb into a mass of metal, leave the earth and fly.

Amelia Earhart really is someone to be awestruck by; First woman to travel solo across the Atlantic and first woman to receive the distinguished American award the Flying Cross. She achieved many other great things in her life, broke down sexual preconceptions and boundaries and was one of the founders of the Ninety-Nines (an organisation for female pilots). Furthermore, Amelia was a member of the National Women's Party in the U.S.A and was an early supporter of the Equal Rights Amendment. In conclusion, she was a pretty fabulous human being.

She disappeared in an attempt to circumnavigate the globe in 1937. She will not disappear as an example of a truly wonderful woman.
